At WWDC 2024, Apple introduced the latest version of watchOS, watchOS 11. According to Apple, the new version of the operating system is based on the company’s sensor technology and advanced algorithms.
“watchOS is the world’s most advanced wearable operating system, helping Apple Watch users stay healthy, active and connected throughout the day,” said David Clark, Apple’s senior director of watchOS engineering.
Translate apps and bring them to Apple Watch.
With watchOS 11, Apple introduced the Translator app. This update allows users to overcome language barriers and communicate directly from their wrist. The Translate app on Apple Watch provides real-time translation right on your wrist. It supports multiple languages, just like the iPhone app, allowing real-time conversation and text translation.
Users can speak or type text directly into the watch using the built-in keyboard. The translated text or voice message appears on the watch screen for clear, concise communication.
Users can download languages for offline use on Apple Watch, ensuring seamless translation even when there is no internet connection. Plus, the Apple Watch Smart Stack widget automatically recommends a translation app when it detects you’re traveling to a different language area, making it even more convenient to access translation features.
The Translate app on the Apple Watch is expected to launch this fall with the WatchOS 11 update. The update is compatible with Apple Watch Series 6 and later.
