Vodafone plans to partner with Amazon’s Project Kuiper to expand the reach of its 4G and 5G telecom networks.
According to Reuters, Project Kuiper’s high-capacity, low-latency satellites will be used to connect mobile base stations in remote locations in Europe and Africa to its core networks.
Amazon is reportedly preparing to test two prototype satellites in the coming months before it begins sending production satellites into its network in 2024. Amazon’s satellite constellation will compete with Elon Musk’s Starlink, OneWeb and others.
we provide services all over the world
Vodafone and Amazon have announced that they will work to bring Project Kuiper’s high-speed broadband services to low-income communities and businesses around the world.
Dave Limb, Amazon’s vice president of devices and services, was quoted as saying, “This partnership allows customers of both companies to greatly benefit from increased connectivity, particularly in areas such as residential broadband .” homes, agriculture, education, health, transportation and financial services,” they said.
Meanwhile, Spanish company Telefónica announced last month that it was partnering with Starlink to provide internet connectivity to rural and remote customers.
Introducing the Amazon Khyber Project
Amazon is expected to launch its first pair of Internet satellite prototypes in September. In 2022, the company announced it would invest $10 billion in a satellite Internet program and conduct 83 launches to get it into orbit.
Under the terms, Amazon must install half of the 3,200 satellites planned for Khyber’s internet network by 2026. Recently, a decision was made to change the satellite launch drivers due to rocket delays.
