Through its key businesses, Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL) and Cairn Oil & Gas, the Group continues to contribute significantly to Rajasthan’s economic growth. Over the past decade, Vedanta has contributed nearly ₹3 lakh crore to national and state exchequers, while supporting the state’s emergence as a preferred destination for industrial expansion.

Hindustan Zinc accounts for nearly one-third of Rajasthan’s total mining royalty, while Cairn’s operations in the Barmer-Sanchore Basin have positioned the region as a key onshore energy asset. Cairn’s investments have also driven socio-economic growth in Barmer, with district GDP rising by over 650 percent.

Since 2002, Hindustan Zinc has scaled its refined metal production to over one million tonnes annually, with silver output increasing nearly twentyfold. The company exports to over 40 countries. Cairn’s Barmer-Sanchore Basin continues steady production, reaching 84,276 BOEPD in FY2025, with cumulative output of 781 MMBOE.

Vedanta’s operations have created employment for over one lakh people and supported thousands of livelihoods through suppliers, contractors, and downstream industries across districts including Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Bhilwara, Rajsamand, Ajmer, and Barmer. Key assets include Rampura Agucha, Chanderiya Smelting Complex, and the Mangala oil field in Barmer. Hindustan Zinc also became the first Indian company to join the International Council on Mining & Metals (ICMM) in 2025.

Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal said Rajasthan has the potential to become a global hub for natural resources and manufacturing. He stated that the next phase of investment will focus on expanding production, building industrial ecosystems, and enabling downstream industries.

The Group is also advancing industrial expansion through projects such as the Zinc Park, which is expected to host around 200 industries. Cairn continues to adopt advanced technologies, including enhanced oil recovery, to sustain production and unlock reserves.

On the social front, Vedanta, through the Anil Agarwal Foundation, has set up over 25,000 Nand Ghars for women and child development. Hindustan Zinc has invested around ₹2,000 crore in community development over the past decade. Educational institutions supported by the Group have benefited thousands of students, while its initiatives have reached nearly 20 crore people across healthcare, education, sanitation, and women empowerment.

The Group stated that Rajasthan’s policy stability, infrastructure development, and ease of doing business continue to support large-scale industrial growth. Vedanta reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable operations and inclusive development as the state moves forward on its growth trajectory.
