In a bold and retaliatory move, former U.S. President Donald Trump has revoked the security clearance of former Secretary of State Antony Blinken and former National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan. This decision follows his recent cancellation of Joe Biden’s security clearance and access to daily intelligence briefings.
Announcing the decision on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump declared in his signature style: “Joe, you’re fired.”

Trump Strips Blinken and Sullivan of Security Access
Continuing his aggressive stance, Trump has now extended the revocation to two of Biden’s closest former aides, Antony Blinken and Jake Sullivan. This follows his earlier justification that Biden had done the same to him in 2021 by directing the intelligence community to block Trump’s access to classified national security briefings—a courtesy traditionally extended to former presidents.
Trump emphasized this precedent in his Truth Social post, stating:
“Biden set the example in 2021 when he directed the Intelligence Community (IC) to deny the 45th President of the United States (me) access to national security details, breaking a long-standing tradition for former presidents. Joe Biden has no need for continued access to classified information. Joe, you’re fired!“
Over Four Dozen Former Officials Already Stripped of Clearance
This move is part of a broader effort by Trump, who has already revoked the security clearances of over four dozen former intelligence officials. He accused them of interfering in the 2020 election in favor of Biden.
Biden Had Previously Revoked Trump’s Clearance in 2021
In 2021, Biden had taken the unprecedented step of denying Trump access to classified intelligence briefings, citing concerns over Trump’s “unstable” behavior. It was the first time in U.S. history that a former president had been stripped of this long-standing security privilege. Biden justified the move by stating that Trump “could not be trusted” with sensitive national security information.
Trump’s latest action signals a continued political clash between the two leaders, with national security access now becoming a battleground for power and retribution.
