New Delhi, September 12 (Udaipur Kiran) : India is set to host the 18th BRICS Summit at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, starting Saturday and continuing through Sunday. Leaders from BRICS member and partner nations, along with invited outreach countries, will participate in the discussions.
The Ministry of External Affairs has announced that the theme of India’s BRICS presidency is “Building Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability.” During the summit, leaders will exchange views on global and regional issues of mutual interest and explore ways to enhance cooperation within BRICS on shared priorities.
This year, India has organized over 350 meetings and high-level events across more than 25 cities, aimed at strengthening the strategic partnership of BRICS through three main pillars: political and security, economic and financial, and cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
India’s leadership has propelled BRICS cooperation through practical and development-oriented outcomes, facilitated by business-to-business initiatives and people-to-people programs.
As a founding member of BRICS, India has previously held the presidency in 2012, 2016, and 2021. On January 1, 2026, India assumed the presidency for the fourth time, marking a significant milestone as BRICS celebrates its 20th anniversary.
The official statement notes that the BRICS logo reflects a blend of tradition and modernity, showcasing vibrant colors representing the member countries, symbolizing their collective strength and unity. The central “Namaste” gesture embodies India’s warmth, respect, and spirit of harmonious cooperation.
BRICS comprises Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates. The partner countries include Belarus, Cuba, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.
The collaboration within BRICS continues to expand, addressing a wide range of global issues, including the fight against terrorism, climate change, food and energy security, global economic conditions, telecommunications, agriculture, labor and employment, international financial infrastructure, trade, and the World Trade Organization.
