Udaipur Kiran – Tina Kanwar Jhala from Rajsamand’s Nathdwara has once again proved that nothing is impossible with strong determination. The national shooter from Mewar Rifle Shooting Club, Gujol, qualified for the national level in her very first attempt, surprising everyone.
At the 68th National Rifle Shooting Championship held at the Madhya Pradesh State Shooting Academy in Bhopal, Tina delivered an outstanding performance in the 50-meter prone position (Point 22 Rifle, Senior Women category). She scored an impressive 593.7 out of 600, securing her place at the national level.
This achievement is even more remarkable as Tina is a mother of two and has been balancing household responsibilities while continuing her practice at the Debari range of Mewar Rifle Shooting Club. Her husband, Dr. Jitendra Singh Mayda, who is a national-level shooting coach and manager of the Rajasthan shooting team, stated that Tina has been training regularly under expert guidance for the past year.
“Tina practiced 10-meter rifle shooting for two years but could only compete up to the pre-national level due to vertical load issues. Since last year, she shifted her focus to 50-meter shooting and achieved national qualification within just one year of practice,” explained coach Dr. Jitendra Singh Chundawat.
What makes her success even more inspiring is that Tina practiced with a rented rifle. Her accomplishment as a homemaker with limited resources has sparked a wave of motivation across the sports community.
“Tina’s achievement is not only inspiring for her but also for all homemakers, mothers, sisters, and young athletes. It proves that with passion in the heart, any boundary can be crossed,” emphasized Dr. Chundawat.
Following this success, Tina will find it easier to obtain a national-level firearm license, which will open opportunities for her to perform at the international level. Mewar Rifle Shooting Club also congratulated other shooters who qualified nationally this year, including Aditya Raj Singh Chauhan (Firearm), Ishti Singh Devda, and Jyoti Chauhan (Pistol Point 22). These athletes now have potential chances for Olympic quota licenses.
Representatives of Mewar Rifle Shooting Club extended their heartfelt congratulations to Tina Kanwar Jhala, stating, “You have not only made your family and shooting club proud but also sent a strong message to women across the country that with firm resolve, all challenges can be overcome.”
