Chandigarh, September 14 (Udaipur Kiran) : Major Bhupinder Singh Dhillon, a retired officer and a close relative of the late Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday. His induction took place under the leadership of the state party president, Keval Singh Dhillon, in Chandigarh. Dhillon has a long-standing political history, having served as the political secretary to Badal for 25 years and as a minister in the Akali government from 1997 to 2002.
The event was attended by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, highlighting its significance. Bhupinder Singh Dhillon’s father, the late Gurraj Singh Dhillon Badal, served as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha from 1952 to 1958, playing a crucial role in Parkash Singh Badal’s early political journey.
Having served in the Indian Army, Major Dhillon actively participated in the 1971 India-Pakistan war and continued his military service until 1988. Since 1994, he has been involved in election campaigns and has maintained a strong connection with the residents of the Longowal constituency.
His joining is perceived as a major boost for the BJP’s organizational and political strength in Punjab, particularly in the Malwa region. In a related development, the BJP also welcomed Pradeep Josh, the president of the Sunar Municipal Committee and the state secretary of the Scheduled Caste wing of the Aam Aadmi Party, along with his supporters.
This event gained further importance as several prominent political leaders and social activists from Sunar joined the BJP alongside Josh. Key figures included Swarn Singh, the president of the Scheduled Caste wing of the Shiromani Akali Dal’s Malwa zone, and numerous others from the local community.

With Josh and his supporters joining, the BJP aims to strengthen its organizational base and grassroots presence in the Sunar constituency.
