Galaxy Users Can Now Unlock Select Vehicles Without a Physical Key
February 19, 2025 – Samsung has expanded its Digital Key feature, allowing Polestar 3 and Volvo EX90 owners to unlock and start their vehicles using a Samsung Galaxy device. This advancement in keyless vehicle access marks another milestone for Samsung Wallet, which has steadily grown in functionality, integrating more automakers into its ecosystem.

Samsung Digital Key: Revolutionizing Vehicle Access
Samsung’s Digital Key is a cutting-edge keyless entry system that eliminates the need for a physical car key. By utilizing Ultra-Wideband (UWB), Near Field Communication (NFC), and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Galaxy users can securely unlock, lock, and start their compatible vehicles with just their smartphone or smartwatch.
Unlike traditional key fobs, Samsung Digital Key offers advanced security protocols, including EAL6+ certification, ensuring protection against unauthorized access. Additionally, remote access via Samsung Find allows users to lock or delete digital keys instantly, enhancing security in case of loss or theft.
Polestar 3 and Volvo EX90 Join Samsung’s Digital Key Ecosystem
Samsung’s latest update brings Polestar 3 and Volvo EX90 into the Digital Key-compatible vehicle lineup, enabling seamless access for owners of these high-end electric SUVs. With this feature, Galaxy users can unlock their vehicles without reaching for a fob, providing a more convenient and tech-forward driving experience.
While Polestar and Volvo are among the latest additions, Samsung has not confirmed when other models, such as the Polestar 4 and upcoming Polestar 5, will receive Digital Key support. However, given the brand’s continued collaboration with automakers, further expansions are expected soon.

Future Expansion and Industry Adoption
Volvo and Polestar are not the first brands to integrate with Samsung Digital Key, and they certainly won’t be the last. As digital car keys become a standard feature, automakers are increasingly collaborating with tech giants to enhance user convenience and security.
Samsung’s continued investment in Digital Key technology signals a future where physical car keys become obsolete, replaced by secure, smartphone-based access.
With more manufacturers expected to join the platform, Samsung Galaxy users will soon enjoy a broader range of vehicles with Digital Key support, reinforcing Samsung’s position as a leader in smartphone-enabled vehicle connectivity.
