Lucknow, August 14: Rinku Singh, the captain of the Meerut Mavericks, has expressed complete confidence in his team’s consistent performance as they prepare for the upcoming fourth season of the UPT20 League. Speaking at the ‘Captains Meet’ held in Lucknow, Singh stated, “Our team has performed exceptionally well. We have reached the finals in the last three seasons and have also won the title. There is no pressure of captaincy. We are built to face challenges. My strategy is straightforward: I tell every player to give their best on the field without any pressure whenever they get the opportunity.”
During the event, Dr. Sanjay Kapoor, the chairman of the league, unveiled the blueprint and special initiatives for the upcoming season in the presence of captains and representatives from all six franchise teams. The tournament, featuring a prize pool of ₹3 crore and consisting of 34 matches, will be broadcast live in over 150 countries worldwide.
All six franchise leaders were present at the event, including Bhuvneshwar Kumar (Lucknow Falcons), Rinku Singh (Meerut Mavericks), Sameer Rizvi (Kanpur Superstars), Madhav Kaushik (Noida Kings), Aryan Juyal (Gorakhpur Lions), and Bhupendra Yadav (representing Kashi Rudras).
Creating an atmosphere of teamwork, Chairman Dr. Sanjay Kapoor addressed the media, stating, “This league belongs to all of us, not just one person. The media is part of our family. Soundbites and pictures will continue until you are completely satisfied. If there are any shortcomings, please forgive us. Together, we will make this celebration a success.”
The tournament will kick off on August 14 with a grand opening ceremony at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. The event will feature live concerts by music maestro Shankar Mahadevan and popular singer Jasmine Sandlas, along with a drone and light show. To provide relief to the attending audience, Dr. Kapoor also announced that all food and beverages inside the venue will be sold at maximum retail price (MRP).
