Udaipur: The 70th District-Level Chess Championship was inaugurated at MDS Public School on September 20. The event was inaugurated by the school’s founder, Ramesh Chandra Somani, who interacted with the players and formally opened the competition. He wished all participants success and encouraged them to give their best.
Boys and girls from the Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 age groups participated enthusiastically in the championship. Players from different schools displayed their chess skills, strategic thinking and concentration during the matches.
Members of the school management and organising committee encouraged the participants and said chess was not merely a sport but also an effective way to develop concentration, patience, logical thinking and decision-making skills.
They said such competitions provide students with an opportunity to showcase their talent while also teaching them sportsmanship and healthy competition.
There was considerable enthusiasm among the players and organisers at the inauguration. Exciting matches were witnessed across different age groups during the competition.
The event aims to promote interest in chess among students and encourage the development of their intellectual and strategic abilities.
