Thiruvananthapuram, September 25 (Udaipur Kiran) : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Kerala has intensified its political campaign against former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, his daughter T. Veena, and ex-minister P.A. Mohammad Riyas. State BJP President Rajeev Chandrasekhar demanded the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) in connection with the CMRL-Exalogic case, urging a thorough investigation into the allegations.
Chandrasekhar accused the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Congress of attempting to divert attention from the Exalogic issue by targeting senior BJP leader V. Muraleedharan. He affirmed the party’s unwavering support for Muraleedharan, who has denied the allegations against him. Chandrasekhar clarified that Muraleedharan held no official positions during the time relevant to the accusations.
The BJP leader emphasized the need for answers regarding the financial transactions involved in the Exalogic case, questioning who provided the money, who received it, and the political connections behind these dealings. He insisted that the allegations against Vijayan and Riyas warrant an investigation under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Chandrasekhar pointed out that the Enforcement Directorate has already informed the state police chief, urging the government to file an FIR for a comprehensive inquiry. He criticized the government’s decision to initiate a preliminary investigation through a Special Investigation Team (SIT) instead of proceeding with an FIR, raising concerns about the implications of such an approach.
He further questioned why the government, led by Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan, is reluctant to file an FIR and investigate the allegations, suggesting that there may be a fear of the inquiry reaching Congress and Indian Union Muslim League leaders. Chandrasekhar accused both Congress and CPI(M) of uniting in their political battles while asserting that the BJP will continue to defend Muraleedharan against attempts to distract from the Exalogic case.
The BJP is calling for a transparent and systematic investigation into the serious allegations against Vijayan, his daughter, and Riyas.
