Jaipur, March 27, 2025 — Weather Report Desk
Weather patterns across Rajasthan continue to shift this week, with noticeable fluctuations in daytime and nighttime temperatures. While northern winds have cooled down the days, nights are warming up across several regions. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), dust-laden winds and temperature drops are expected to affect northwestern and northern parts of the state in the coming 48 hours.

Temperature Swings Across the State
On Thursday, maximum daytime temperatures dropped by 2 to 5°C across most cities in Rajasthan. Jaisalmer recorded the sharpest dip at 5°C. Despite this, Dholpur and Kota experienced a scorching 40°C+ during the day, with Dholpur clocking 40.6°C, making it the hottest spot in the state.
Interestingly, Jaipur’s Wednesday night turned out to be the warmest night of the season, recording a minimum temperature of 25.4°C. In contrast, cities like Jodhpur, Barmer, Bikaner, Churu, and Sikar all saw nighttime temperatures crossing 20°C, highlighting an unusual warming trend.
IMD Forecast: Dust Storms, Falling Temperatures Likely
The IMD attributes these changing weather patterns to an active western disturbance near the border regions. As a result, Bikaner and Jodhpur divisions are expected to witness wind speeds of 20–30 km/h accompanied by cloud movement, though rainfall is unlikely.
Key forecasts include:
2 to 4°C drop in temperatures in affected districts
Dry weather returning after March 28
Strong surface winds in northern and northwestern Rajasthan
Continued fluctuations in temperature across major cities
According to IMD Director Radheshyam Sharma, both minimum and maximum temperatures are likely to drop by 3–5°C over the next 48 hours due to northerly winds. However, by the first week of April, temperatures are expected to rise again, with daytime highs exceeding normal by 2–3°C, particularly during the second week.
Jaipur’s Hottest Night of the Season
This season, Jaipur recorded its hottest night yet, with the mercury touching 25.4°C, a 2.5°C increase from the previous night. While the city’s day temperature dropped by 2°C to 36.2°C, the rise in nighttime warmth marks a significant shift in local weather dynamics. Further temperature volatility is expected in the coming days.
