Jaipur, July 4 (Udaipur Kiran) — Dr. Kirori Lal Meena, Rajasthan’s Agriculture Minister and a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has resigned from his ministerial position. Meena had submitted his resignation to the Chief Minister a few days ago, but it was kept confidential due to the ongoing budget session of the Assembly. Now that the information about his resignation has come to light, the party may face challenges in the region.

Meena stated that he had been in Delhi for the past two days as he was called for discussions by the party’s national general secretary, but he could not meet him. Meena emphasized that he has no grievances with the organization or the Chief Minister. During the Lok Sabha elections, he had declared that he would resign if the eleven seats he was responsible for were lost.
Before the election results were out, seeing the trends indicating BJP’s loss of 11 seats, Meena hinted at his resignation through a social media post, quoting the Ramcharitmanas verse, “Raghukul reet sada chali aayi, praan jaaye par vachan na jaaye” (The Raghu clan’s tradition has always been that one’s life may go, but a promise must be kept). He reiterated this verse on social media on Thursday.
By-elections are soon to be held for five Assembly seats in Rajasthan, including Jhunjhunu, Khinwsar, Dausa, Deoli-Uniara, and Chaurasi. The BJP had recently appointed Dr. Kirori Lal Meena as the election in-charge for the Dausa seat.
