Rajasthan Police Arrest 744 Hardcore Criminals in First Week of Statewide Special Drive

JAIPUR, July 28: Rajasthan Police has arrested 744 hardcore criminals and taken legal action against 1,715 identified offenders during the first week of its month-long statewide special campaign launched under the state government’s zero-tolerance policy against crime.

Hardcore Criminals

The special drive, being conducted from July 20 to August 20, 2026, is being carried out under the directions of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Chief Secretary V. Srinivas, with Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Kumar Sharma overseeing the campaign.

529 Operations Conducted Against Hardcore Criminals

DGP Rajeev Kumar Sharma said police teams carried out 529 legal and preventive actions against 1,715 identified hardcore criminals during the first seven days of the campaign, resulting in the arrest of 744 accused.

Among the police ranges, Jodhpur Range recorded the highest number of arrests with 331, followed by Udaipur Range with 100 and Bikaner Range with 67. Ajmer Range and Jaipur Commissionerate each arrested 60 accused.

Major Crackdown on Drug Trafficking

As part of the anti-narcotics drive, police registered 339 cases under the NDPS Act and arrested 477 accused.

Bikaner Range recorded the highest action with 83 NDPS cases and 110 arrests, followed by Jaipur Commissionerate (48 cases), Kota Range (41 cases) and Jaipur Range (34 cases).

Cyber Crime Drive Leads to ₹2.45 Crore Recovery

Police took action against 1,245 cyber criminals and arrested 258 accused during the campaign.

Authorities recovered ₹2.45 crore from cyber fraudsters, while ₹86.83 lakh was returned to victims. Jaipur Commissionerate recovered more than ₹68 lakh, while Jaipur Range recovered over ₹58 lakh.

Action Against Illegal Arms, Mining and Public Order Violations

Police registered 132 cases under the Arms Act, with the highest number reported from Bharatpur Range (42), followed by Jaipur Range (21) and Bikaner Range (19).

Against illegal mining, police initiated action in 260 cases across the state, including 73 cases in Ajmer Range and 53 in Jaipur Range.

To maintain public order, action was taken in 3,337 cases under Section 170 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Over 2.9 Lakh Vehicles Checked

Police established 9,683 checkpoints across Rajasthan and inspected 290,201 vehicles during the campaign.

Action under the Motor Vehicles Act was taken against 86,793 vehicles for various traffic violations.

The campaign included action against 205,874 helmetless riders, 5,275 motorists without seat belts, 4,587 people for drunk driving, and 7,182 vehicles with illegal black films.

More Than 2.66 Lakh Traffic Violations Penalised

To improve road safety, police took action against 266,600 motorists, including 39,199 cases of overspeeding, 5,622 cases of drunk driving, 46,906 helmet violations, 80,734 overloaded vehicles, and 94,139 other traffic offences.

Focus on Women’s Safety and Community Policing

As part of the campaign, Rajasthan Police organised 3,199 awareness programmes focusing on women’s safety. The same number of public awareness campaigns were also conducted to strengthen police-public engagement, while 551 Community Liaison Group (CLG) meetings were organised across the state.

DGP Reaffirms Zero-Tolerance Policy

DGP Rajeev Kumar Sharma said Rajasthan Police remains committed to maintaining law and order and taking decisive action against organised crime, drug trafficking, cyber fraud, and crimes against women.

He said the statewide campaign will continue with the same intensity until August 20, in line with the Chief Minister’s zero-tolerance policy. The objective, he added, is to instil fear of the law among criminals while strengthening public trust in the police.
