Chittorgarh, July 25 (Mukesh Mundra): A video allegedly showing murder accused partying inside the district jail in Chittorgarh has surfaced on social media, triggering panic within the prison administration. The footage purportedly shows inmates consuming intoxicants, dancing and enjoying a feast of dal-baati-churma inside the jail premises.
Following the video’s circulation, the jail administration conducted a search operation and recovered two mobile phones from inside the prison. A case has been registered against eight inmates at Kotwali Police Station.
Three Videos Surface from Inside Jail
According to the jail administration, three videos believed to have been recorded on July 23 have emerged from the district jail. The inmates seen in the videos are accused in the high-profile murder case of Ajayraj Singh, son of a retired Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI).
Among those identified in the videos are history-sheeter Ishwar Singh alias Hariom Singh from Gangrar, Harshvardhan Singh, Bhairulal Gurjar, and several other undertrial prisoners.
In one video, around 10 to 12 inmates are seen eating together. Another allegedly shows some inmates consuming intoxicants, while a third captures them dancing. The videos appear to have been recorded in selfie mode using a mobile phone inside the jail.
Search Operation Recovers Two Mobile Phones
After learning about the viral videos, the jail administration carried out a thorough search of the prison in the presence of the Jail Superintendent and staff.
During the search, an undertrial prisoner, Mohit, allegedly led officials to a mobile phone wrapped in plastic and hidden inside a store room near the STD room opposite his barrack. Another golden-coloured mobile phone was found abandoned near the roots of a tree outside the women’s ward.
Both mobile phones were seized and handed over to the police for investigation.
FIR Registered Against Eight Inmates
Based on a complaint lodged by jail guard Vederam, Kotwali Police registered a case against eight inmates. The accused include:
- Mohit, a resident of Rohtak, Haryana
- Harshvardhan Singh of Rashmi
- Bhairulal Gurjar of Gangrar
- Ishwar Singh alias Hariom Singh
- Satyanarayan Gurjar
- Prahlad Gurjar of Vijaypur
- Shobhalal of Gangrar
- Vinod Gurjar of Hamirgarh
The jail administration has alleged that the inmates procured and used prohibited items inside the prison.
Linked to Ajayraj Singh Murder Case
The inmates are accused in the murder of Ajayraj Singh, who was shot dead during a dispute over sand mining in June last year. Police had arrested more than two dozen accused during the investigation, and some of those undertrial prisoners are now seen in the viral videos.
Investigation Underway
Jail Superintendent Narendra Swami confirmed that information regarding the viral videos was received and an FIR has been lodged at Kotwali Police Station. Police have begun an investigation into how mobile phones and prohibited items reached the inmates inside the jail.
