New Delhi, August 2: Union Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Labour and Employment, Shobha Karandlaje, has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, urging an immediate CBI investigation into alleged large-scale irregularities in the recruitment of veterinary officers by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC).
In a formal letter dated August 2, the minister expressed serious concerns over allegations of corruption, abuse of position, manipulation of the recruitment process, and criminal conspiracy. She stated that failure to address these issues would severely undermine public trust in the fairness, transparency, and integrity of government job processes.
Karandlaje noted, “The nature of the allegations indicates that there have been large-scale irregularities, which may include illegal monetary transactions and systematic abuse of the recruitment process.” She emphasized that millions of eligible candidates aspiring for government jobs deserve a recruitment system free from corruption and undue influence.
Referencing constitutional aspects, the minister highlighted that the credibility of KPSC is essential for guaranteeing equality in public employment under Articles 14 and 16 of the Constitution. Any compromise in its functioning not only unjustly affects eligible candidates but also erodes public trust in constitutional institutions and the rule of law.
Given the gravity of the allegations and the significant public interest, Karandlaje insisted on a fair, independent, and comprehensive investigation by the CBI. According to her, such an inquiry would reveal the full extent of the conspiracy, identify all involved parties, uncover illegal monetary transactions, and examine the roles of public servants and intermediaries to ensure accountability without fear or bias.
She requested the Home Minister to expedite the investigation into the irregularities in the KPSC veterinary officer recruitment in the interest of justice, transparency, and public trust in constitutional institutions. The letter concluded with a call for prompt and positive action.
