Udaipur, March 7 (Udaipur Kiran): The UGC Women’s Studies Centre of Mohanlal Sukhadia University will organise the week-long festival ‘Mandala: Pleasantly Inclusive 2026’ from March 9. The event will feature a series of academic, cultural and awareness programmes focusing on gender equality, women empowerment and social inclusivity.

The objective of the festival is to increase awareness among students, research scholars and the general public about women’s rights, gender sensitivity and the idea of an inclusive society. The programme will include activities such as a research paper writing workshop, gender walk, literary events, film screening, workshops, a gender fair and a cultural evening.
Research Paper Workshop to Begin the Festival
The festival will begin on March 9 with a two-day research paper writing workshop. The workshop is specially designed for young researchers and tribal students, aiming to develop their understanding and skills in academic research writing.
It will be jointly organised by the Women’s Studies Centre of Mohanlal Sukhadia University and the Manikya Lal Verma Tribal Research and Training Institute, Udaipur.
‘Gender Walk’ to Examine Sensitivity in Public Spaces
On March 11, the Department of Geography, UCSSSH, MLSU, will organise a programme titled ‘Gender Walk: Jaane Kya Dikh Jaaye’. The walk will start from Hathipole and pass through Gulab Bagh and Gangaur Ghat before concluding at Fateh Sagar.
During the walk, students will analyse gender sensitivity at tourist locations. Activities such as surveys, social experiments and counter mapping will be conducted to spread awareness.
Later the same evening, a literary programme titled ‘Maun–Mugdh Kavya: Ekant Ki Kuch Ujali Kavitayen’ will be held in collaboration with Jajam Cafe, Udaipur.
Screening of ‘Mardani 3’ and POSH Workshop
On March 12, the film ‘Mardani 3’ will be screened at Bappa Rawal Auditorium, Golden Jubilee Guest House, MLSU. The film highlights sensitive issues such as human trafficking, begging mafia and crimes against girls.
A workshop on the POSH Act 2013 — related to the prevention, prohibition and redressal of sexual harassment of women at the workplace — will be organised on March 13. The session will be conducted in collaboration with Jatan Sansthan, Udaipur, and the university’s Internal Complaints Committee (ICC).
Gender Fair and Cultural Evening to Mark Conclusion
On March 14, a regional dialogue will be organised on the topic of capacity building of Women’s Studies Centres. On the same day, a Gender Mela will also be held from 11 am, featuring various stalls and activities.
The week-long festival will conclude with a cultural evening, where artists from the city will present performances. Women from Udaipur who have made notable contributions to society will also be honoured during the closing event.
