At its Surface and AI event on Monday, Microsoft introduced Copilot+ PCs, a new category of Windows PCs that support artificial intelligence (AI). The Windows maker calls it the “fastest, smartest Windows PC,” and these computers are equipped with special chipsets that can handle more than 40 trillion operations per second (TOPS). Additionally, these PCs also offer new AI features such as Recall and Cocreate, as well as integration with third-party AI-based applications such as Adobe and CapCut.
Part of Microsoft’s AI PC vision, Copilot+ PC is essentially a PC operating system that enables OEMs to realize the full potential of the hardware at their disposal to support AI capabilities. These personal computers have special hardware requirements. In an announcement post, the Windows maker revealed that Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo and Samsung have partnered to launch Copilot+ PCs starting June 18. Microsoft is also planning to introduce new Surface devices in this class.

Therefore, Microsoft said that these devices will come with new AI-powered calling features. Recall allows users to visually check their usage history. Users can move through the timeline in chronological order by scrolling in the navigation bar and viewing files, folders, and websites in the preview box at the bottom. “Copilot+ PC organizes information based on relationships and connections that are unique to our individual experiences, just like us,” the company says.
Another new feature is Cocreate, a tool for digital artists available in Paint and Photos. With Paint, you draw a picture and the AI takes cues from you to create a visually similar image. Users can access the image drawn by artificial intelligence and customize it using text messages.
In Photos, users can use artificial intelligence to design and edit images. Separately, Microsoft is working with third-party applications such as Adobe, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve Studio, Cephable and LiquidText to integrate AI capabilities. Microsoft will also provide access to Copilot, Live Captions and other previously announced AI features on these PC systems.
Microsoft has also announced a range of new Copilot+ PCs that will soon be available to the general public. These include Acer’s Swift 14 AI, Asus Vivobook S 15, Dell’s XPS 13, Inspiron 14 Plus, Inspiron 14, Latitude 7455, Latitude 5455, OmniBook X AI PC HP and EliteBook Ultra G1q AI PC Yoga Scludes. From June 18th, the Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Edge will also be included in the Copilot+ PC category.
Microsoft also introduced the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop, the company’s first Copilot+ PCs. This will also be released from June 18th.
