Google Chrome may offer users new artificial intelligence (AI)-driven features to help them perform certain tasks in the browser more easily. One of these new features may relate to visual searches while browsing the web. Recent reports online suggest that Chrome is likely to introduce a version of Google’s Circle to Search feature, which debuted on the Samsung Galaxy S24 series earlier this year, and will also be available on select Android smartphones.
X user (formerly Twitter) @Leopeva64 shared in a series of posts that Google Chrome is testing a new Lens UI element that animates similar to the Search Circle feature on Android phones. According to the videos shared in the series, the feature will also include a dedicated button on Chrome’s Google Lens toolbar.

When the new Google Lens button is selected, a search icon appears next to the cursor, and users can drag and select the part of the screen they want to view. Results associated with the image or text in the selected area are displayed in the tab on the right side of the screen. This is similar to Chrome’s existing Google Lens feature, but is expected to be offered as an enhanced version that allows users to search by selecting items on the screen.
Google has not yet officially confirmed that such a feature would be integrated into the desktop version of the Chrome browser. However, Adriana Porterfeld, head of engineering at Google Chrome, recently hinted that Chrome will likely include new AI-driven features.
Reading web pages, similar to the summarization tools seen in Microsoft Copilot and Samsung Galaxy AI, may also be included in a future version of Chrome, among the features integrated into Google Chrome AI in addition to the aforementioned search function.
