MP Police Plans Multi-Layered Security for NEET-UG 2026

Bhopal, April 26: Madhya Pradesh’s Director General of Police (DGP) Kailash Makwana emphasized the need for robust arrangements as he directed all districts to ensure a peaceful, fair, and secure conduct of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2026, scheduled for May 3.

During a state-level review meeting held via video conference with police superintendents, Makwana stated that this examination is highly sensitive, impacting the futures of millions of students. He stressed that NEET is a crucial exam linked to students’ futures, and therefore, every process must be error-free, transparent, and secure. He instructed officials to adopt a ‘zero-tolerance’ approach towards any lapses.

Makwana directed that all examination centers, strong rooms, and examination halls be physically inspected in advance, and security arrangements be further strengthened. To ensure thorough checks of candidates, adequate police personnel will be deployed at entry and exit points of the examination centers, and the use of handheld metal detectors (HHMDs) will be mandatory.

The DGP emphasized the need for strict monitoring of the movement of question papers. He insisted that police security (escort) must be provided during transportation between banks, post offices, strong rooms, and examination centers, with vehicle tracking ensured via dashcams along designated routes. Continuous monitoring will also be maintained until the safe return of OMR sheets and other examination materials post-exam.

Highlighting potential risks, Makwana ordered heightened vigilance in sensitive areas, including the Chambal region and bordering districts, to prevent paper leaks or organized cheating attempts. He further stated that unauthorized access around examination centers will be strictly prohibited.

Makwana also instructed immediate action against misinformation or rumors spreading on social media platforms. Cyber commandos and a cyber cell will be deployed to monitor digital platforms and detect suspicious activities.

Additional Director General of Police A. Sai Manohar noted that improvements have been made based on lessons learned from events in 2024, with particular attention to central-level security and mandatory CCTV coverage at all 283 centers.

Deputy Inspector General Tarun Nayak reported that the exam will be conducted for approximately 1.18 lakh candidates across 30 cities, with the highest number of examination centers set up in Indore.

Officials indicated that 38 trained cyber commandos will be deployed for network monitoring, and strict legal action, including First Information Reports, will be taken against anyone found involved in paper leaks, impersonation, or organized cheating.
