New Delhi, April 25 (Udaipur Kiran): Passengers onboard an Air India flight from Delhi to Indore faced severe inconvenience after being made to sit inside the aircraft for hours without air conditioning, triggering protests at the airport.
Flight AI-2515, scheduled to depart at 12:10 pm and arrive in Indore at 1:45 pm, was delayed due to a technical fault. The aircraft was taken to the runway but had to be brought back to the terminal after failing to receive technical clearance.
During this period, passengers remained seated inside the aircraft without AC in extreme heat, leading to discomfort and health issues for some. Frustrated by the situation and lack of clear communication, passengers raised slogans and demanded refunds.
The situation escalated after multiple gate changes before boarding caused confusion among travellers. Even after boarding, the aircraft remained stationary on the runway for a long duration before being returned to the terminal.
Initially, the flight was expected to reach Indore by 5 pm, but after nearly a three-hour delay, it finally departed again at around 5:15 pm and is now expected to arrive at approximately 6:30 pm.
Passengers alleged that they were not given proper updates regarding the delay and accused the airline of negligence and poor handling of the situation. Several travellers demanded alternative arrangements or refunds and continued their protest at the airport.
One passenger, Shalin Jain, expressed his frustration on social media platform X, stating that repeated changes in departure time reflected poorly on the airline’s management. Another user also claimed that a related flight faced delays and was eventually cancelled without clear explanation.
Responding to the complaints, Air India said the delay was due to operational reasons and assured that efforts were being made to minimise inconvenience caused to passengers. The airline also thanked passengers for their patience.
