Mumbai, February 16: Apple, the tech giant based in Cupertino, is set to launch the iPhone 18 Pro later this year in September 2026. The upcoming model is expected to feature the new C2 5G modem, following the introduction of the C1 5G modem with the iPhone 16e. Although the iPhone 17e has already been released, the C2 modem was not unveiled at that time. Reports suggest that it will be included in the iPhone 18 Pro devices this year.
According to a post on Weibo by a well-known tipster named Fixed Focus Digital, the new C2 modem will support NR-NTN (New Radio Non-Terrestrial Networks), enabling satellite connectivity on standard phones. This advancement represents a significant upgrade in connectivity for iPhones, particularly as it will be Apple’s proprietary modem.
With NR-NTN support, iPhones will be able to connect directly to satellite networks, enhancing carrier coverage in remote areas. The C2 modem is anticipated to offer efficiency improvements over the previous C1 and C1x chips, along with better performance in weak or congested network conditions.
