Gaborone (Botswana), 12 November (Udaipur Kiran)। President Droupadi Murmu said that India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision and Africa’s Agenda 2063 together offer both nations an opportunity to play a pivotal role in building a fair, sustainable and inclusive global order. She emphasised that the India–Botswana partnership is rooted in shared values of democracy, human dignity and equitable development.

Addressing the National Assembly in Gaborone on Thursday, President Murmu said Botswana is an example of democracy, good governance and effective leadership, where national resources are used to uplift marginalised communities and promote overall development. She was welcomed by Speaker Dithapelo L. Keorapetse, the Deputy Chairperson and the Leader of Opposition.
The President noted that cooperation between India and Botswana has strengthened across sectors including education, health, technology, agriculture, defence, trade and investment. India, she said, is proud to contribute to Botswana’s human resource development and capacity building. Over the past decade, more than 1,000 young people from Botswana have received education and training in India.
She highlighted that Indian companies are active in Botswana’s diamond, energy and infrastructure sectors, and that significant opportunities also exist in renewable energy, digital innovation, pharmaceuticals and mining. She urged business communities from both countries to fully harness the potential of their economic partnership.
Earlier, President Murmu visited the Botswana Diamond Trading Company, where she was welcomed by Mineral and Energy Minister Bogolo Kenewendo and Foreign Minister Fenyo Butale. She then visited the Three Dikgosi Monument and paid tribute to Botswana’s three freedom leaders — Khama III, Sebele I and Bathoen I.
