Udaipur, September 9: At the ongoing ‘Apno Se Apni Baat’ programme at Narayan Seva Sansthan, institution president Prashant Agrawal delivered a message on wisdom, humility, respect for parents and sensitivity towards those in need through inspiring episodes associated with Lord Ganesha. He said success comes not merely from resources or capability, but from the right perspective and wisdom.
Narrating the story of Lord Ganesha and Kartikeya’s journey around the Earth, Prashant Agrawal said both brothers were given the condition of circling the entire Earth to become the first to be worshipped.
Kartikeya set out on his peacock to circle the Earth, while Lord Ganesha understood the situation and considered his parents his entire world, completing seven circumambulations around them. His reasoning was that parents are the foundation who gave and sustained life. Impressed by his wisdom, Lord Shiva blessed Ganesha with the status of being the first to be worshipped.
Prashant Agrawal said the lesson from this episode remains equally relevant today. He said people often wander far and wide in search of solutions, while the answer they need may already be right in front of them.
Describing service to parents as the greatest pilgrimage, he said religious faith becomes meaningful only when its impact is visible in our behaviour and spirit of service.
Through the episode involving Lord Ganesha and Tulsi, he also highlighted the right way of saying ‘no’. He said Lord Ganesha politely declined Tulsi’s marriage proposal, following which Tulsi cursed him. Instead of taking revenge, Lord Ganesha accepted the curse and also granted Tulsi a boon.
He said there is nothing wrong in declining a proposal, but the manner of refusal should preserve the dignity and respect of the other person.
