Gandhinagar, September 9 (Udaipur Kiran) : A serious incident occurred in Gandhinagar on Wednesday when a slab from the under-construction Boski Empire building collapsed. Reports indicate that more than 12 workers may be trapped under the debris. So far, 11 individuals have been rescued and admitted to the Gandhinagar Civil Hospital.
Emergency teams, including the fire brigade and police, arrived promptly at the scene to conduct rescue operations. Heavy machinery, including JCBs, is being used to clear the rubble as fears grow that more workers remain trapped beneath.
An ambulance staff member confirmed that the 11 rescued individuals include two women and nine men, all of whom were laborers working at the site. A local resident mentioned receiving a call about the slab collapse but could not ascertain how many workers were present at the time of the incident. However, he noted that at least seven to eight people had been taken to the hospital, with concerns that others might still be inside.
In light of the severity of the situation, Gujarat’s Health Minister, Prafull Pansheriya, visited the civil hospital to meet with the injured. He stated, “Our entire medical team is working to assist them and conducting essential tests like X-rays and blood tests. If any complications arise, specialists in orthopedics and surgery will also be called in.”
Initial information suggests that the building was still under construction, and the slab was being installed when the accident occurred. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the causes of the collapse and ordered a review of the construction quality and safety standards.
