Patna, 3 September (Kiran News): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has once again issued an orange alert for heavy rain in 11 districts of Bihar, as the monsoon becomes active over the state. In addition, a yellow alert has been sounded for 12 more districts. Continuous rainfall in neighbouring Nepal has also caused the Kosi river to swell in Supaul.

The districts under orange alert are West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Buxar, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Kaimur, Arwal, and Aurangabad. A yellow alert has been issued for Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia, Katihar, Madhepura, Saharsa, Khagaria, Bhagalpur, Munger, Jamui, and Banka.
The IMD has warned of strong winds, thunderstorms, heavy rain, and lightning in these areas, with wind speeds expected to reach 30–40 km per hour.
People in the affected districts have been advised to move to higher ground in case of waterlogging or flood situations, stay away from exposed electrical wires, and avoid open fields and tall trees during thunderstorms.
According to IMD Patna, although the monsoon has weakened slightly, several districts may experience heavy rain between 11 and 18 September, which could lead to waterlogging in urban areas but is expected to bring some relief to farmers.
In the last 24 hours, Kaimur, Jamui, and Munger recorded the highest rainfall. So far this monsoon, Bihar has received about 29% less rain than normal, with some districts experiencing up to a 61% rainfall deficit.
