Mumbai, June 26: Actress Chaitna Pandey is currently in the spotlight for her recently released film ‘Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past.’ While her performance has received widespread acclaim, she revealed that she was emotionally shattered during the film’s shooting.
In an interview, Chaitna shared that she was going through a tough mental phase, yet she committed herself fully to her role. “When I was asked to play the character of Sunhari, I had no idea how deeply my own life would connect with this character. More than any acting preparation, my life experiences prepared me for this role. At the time of shooting, I was struggling to hold myself together. I felt completely broken inside and was mentally distressed,” she said.
Chaitna further explained, “Over time, I realized that every difficulty in life comes for a reason. Sometimes, tough situations prepare us for the bigger responsibilities and challenges ahead. So, I tried to learn from that phase.”
Reflecting on her experiences, she noted, “The hardest time in my life coincided with the film’s shooting. My personal story and Sunhari’s story have many similarities. I didn’t need to create separate emotions while acting; I channeled my pain, loneliness, and struggles directly into my character. The feelings in my heart were visible on Sunhari’s face and behavior on screen.”
Recalling her excitement about working with director Vikram Bhatt, she said, “When I learned that Vikram Bhatt was directing this film, I was thrilled. He has significantly contributed to redefining horror films in Indian cinema, creating several impactful movies in this genre. ‘Haunted’ was one of those films that left a deep impression on audiences and is among India’s early three-dimensional horror films, with a story and scenes that are still remembered today.”
Chaitna also shared her thoughts on the changing preferences of today’s audiences. “People have very little time today, and their attention spans are short. Sometimes, they can’t even finish a short video. In such times, if a film manages to hold a place in people’s hearts for years, it’s a significant achievement.”
‘Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past’ features Chaitna Pandey alongside Mimoh Chakraborty in a pivotal role. The film was released in theaters on June 12, 2026.
