Balrampur, 3 September (Kiran News): A major tragedy struck the village of Bishrampur in Balrampur district, Chhattisgarh, after the 40-year-old Luti Dam suddenly collapsed late Tuesday night. The dam breach caused a sudden flood in the low-lying areas, leading to widespread devastation in the village.
Police sources said that seven people living downstream were swept away by the surge, including six members of a single family. District police, administration, and NDRF teams immediately reached the site to carry out rescue and relief operations.
So far, four bodies have been recovered—two on Tuesday night and two more on Wednesday morning. The deceased have been identified as Batsaiya (62, female), Chinta (35, female), Rajanti (25, female), and a minor boy. According to the police, three people are still reported missing.
Rescue efforts are ongoing as officials continue to search for the missing and provide relief to affected villagers.
