Sant Kabir Nagar, June 25: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced plans for a grand corridor at Baba Tameshwar Nath Dham and other religious sites in the region, emphasizing that this beautification is not just a mark of faith but also a tribute to the ancestors who established these heritage sites. The government aims to give Baba Tameshwar Nath Dham a new identity, similar to the developments seen at Kashi Vishwanath Dham, Ayodhya Dham, and Maa Vindhyavasini Dham.
The Chief Minister made these remarks while addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone and inaugurating over 139 development projects worth more than ₹475 crores for Sant Kabir Nagar and Gorakhpur at Shri Baijunath Dham, located on the banks of the Kuwano River. He also distributed certificates of approval to beneficiaries of various government schemes. The projects include approximately ₹225 crores for the Dhankhata assembly constituency and around ₹251 crores for the Khajani assembly constituency.
Before the event, the Chief Minister held a review meeting with Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, during which housing approvals were granted under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) for 618,000 new eligible families in Uttar Pradesh. This decision by the double-engine government is a significant step towards providing permanent housing for the poor.
CM Yogi highlighted that areas like Dhankhata and Khajani, once considered the most backward, are now directly connected to the state capital, Lucknow, via the Purvanchal Expressway. He noted that these regions, previously neglected, are now part of the development mainstream. The Purvanchal Expressway, along with the expansion of national and rural roads, new bridges, and connecting routes, is transforming the region. The establishment of Greater GIDA in Dhuriyaapar is attracting new industries, providing job opportunities for the youth in Dhankhata.
The Chief Minister also mentioned the development of the Bakhira Lake in the Mehndawal assembly constituency, which is now being developed as a Ramsar site and eco-tourism center. The government is making significant strides in education and health, establishing degree colleges, polytechnics, and ITIs in areas previously lacking higher educational institutions. Initiatives like Operation Kayakalp, Project Alankaar, Atal Residential Schools, and Chief Minister Composite Schools are strengthening the education system.
CM Yogi reiterated the double-engine government’s commitment to making future generations self-reliant and ensuring that the poor, farmers, youth, and women receive their rights. He highlighted the provision of free rations, health facilities under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, and benefits from the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for the underprivileged.
He also referred to the emergency imposed on June 25, 1975, calling it a dark chapter in Indian democracy, and criticized the Congress for stifling democracy and suspending civil rights. The Chief Minister accused the Congress and the Samajwadi Party of misleading the public while claiming to uphold democracy and the Constitution.
