Gujarat CM Discusses Semiconductor Investment with Japanese Ambassador

Gandhinagar, May 1: In a significant meeting during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference held in Surat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel engaged with Japan’s Ambassador to India, Koichi Ono. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral economic cooperation, particularly in the semiconductor sector.

Ambassador Ono congratulated CM Patel on the successful organization of the conference and reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to enhancing economic collaboration with Gujarat. He expressed interest from Japanese companies in partnering with Gujarat in the semiconductor industry and highlighted the need for establishing supply parks to support the development of necessary ancillary industries.

CM Patel shared insights about the state’s skilled human resources and robust skill ecosystem. He informed the ambassador about the improved infrastructure, noting that the newly inaugurated Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway has reduced travel time to Ahmedabad Airport to just 1.5 hours.

During the meeting, the ambassador conveyed a positive experience working with the Gujarat government and expressed eagerness for further collaboration in the future. Additionally, discussions included new opportunities in the bulk drug park and medical device park sectors.

Present at the meeting were Chief Secretary M.K. Das, Additional Chief Secretary of the Industry and Mines Department Mamta Verma, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Sanjeev Kumar, Additional Principal Secretary Dr. Vikrant Pandey, Secretary Dr. Ajay Kumar, and other senior officials from Japan.
