Daylight Murder of Pharmacy Employee in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, June 13: A pharmacy employee was shot dead in broad daylight on Saturday by two masked assailants inside a drug store located near PGIMER in the upscale Sector 11 market of Chandigarh.

According to police, the cashier at Shri Kumar Medical Hall was shot at close range. After committing the crime, the attackers fled the scene on a motorcycle with a third accomplice.

Authorities have refrained from commenting on the motive behind the attack, stating that it is too early to speculate.

CCTV footage from the store shows the two assailants calmly conversing with the cashier while he was engaged in a discussion with another employee. Moments later, one of the attackers pulled out a semi-automatic pistol and fired multiple shots at the victim.

Witnesses reported that two individuals managed to escape the scene unharmed. Additional CCTV footage from the market captured the panic that ensued as people ran for safety upon hearing the gunfire.

The victim sustained several gunshot wounds and was rushed to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), where he was pronounced dead.

This incident marks the second major murder in the city in recent months. Earlier, on March 19, a 31-year-old property dealer, Chamanpreet Singh, was shot dead in broad daylight in the VIP area of Sector 9 while leaving the gym and getting into his SUV.

In that case, the attackers arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire as the victim slowed down near the exit.
