Ranchi, October 29 (Udaipur Kiran) — The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall across several districts of Jharkhand till October 31 due to the impact of Cyclone Montha. The alert was issued by weather scientist Abhishek Anand on Wednesday.

According to Anand, the cyclonic system is likely to move northeastward over the east-central Arabian Sea in the coming days. As a result, northwestern and central parts of Jharkhand may experience isolated heavy rainfall on Thursday.
Wind speeds are expected to reach 30–40 kmph, accompanied by lightning activity at isolated places, prompting the IMD to issue a yellow alert for the state. On Friday, northeastern districts are also likely to receive heavy rain.
During the past 24 hours, moderate rainfall was recorded in Ranchi, Baharagora, and Daltonganj, while on Wednesday morning, Ranchi and nearby areas witnessed intense downpours, leading to a drop in temperature and a chilly atmosphere. The continuous rain disrupted daily life, affecting school attendance and regular outdoor activities.
Over the last 24 hours, the highest temperature in the state was recorded at Godda (33.8°C), while the lowest was noted at Latehar (19.3°C). In other major cities, the maximum temperature was 29.4°C in Ranchi, 31.6°C in Jamshedpur, 33.2°C in Daltonganj, 32.2°C in Bokaro, and 31.8°C in Chaibasa.
The weather department has advised residents to stay alert and avoid unnecessary travel, as heavy rains and gusty winds could affect road connectivity and public movement in several parts of Jharkhand over the next two days.
