Imran Masood Faces Setback as Son-in-Law Shayan Masood Joins Samajwadi Party

Lucknow, August 21: In a significant political shift in Uttar Pradesh, Congress MP Imran Masood has faced a major setback as his son-in-law, Shayan Masood, has left the Congress party to join the Samajwadi Party (SP). Following his induction into the SP, Shayan Masood expressed his support for SP President Akhilesh Yadav by sharing a song on the social media platform X.

The Samajwadi Party announced Shayan Masood’s membership on their social media handle, stating that he, along with Saharanpur’s Shadaan Masood and others, met with National President Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow after joining the party. This move is seen as a significant blow to Congress ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

Shayan Masood commented on the growing acceptance of the Samajwadi Party across the state, stating, “The enthusiasm among the people indicates that a change is coming to Uttar Pradesh this time. We will work alongside the party and its ideology to strengthen our presence and aim for better results in Western Uttar Pradesh.”

He also praised Akhilesh Yadav, calling him one of the most visionary and progressive leaders in Uttar Pradesh. Shayan noted that during Yadav’s tenure from 2012 to 2017, the achievements made by his government have yet to be matched by the current BJP administration, which has attempted to replicate various developmental projects initiated by the SP.
