Udaipur, February 16, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran) — A three-day training programme for regular assistants under 23 census charges of the district commenced on Monday at the Zila Parishad auditorium in Udaipur as part of the first phase preparations for Census 2027.

District Census Officer and Additional District Collector (Administration), Udaipur, Deependra Singh Rathore said that the role and responsibilities of regular assistants are significant in the execution of the census work. He stated that this will be India’s 16th Census and the country’s first digital Census, enabling citizens to complete their enumeration through a self-enumeration option.
On the first day, participants were trained in the appointment process of field trainers, enumerators and supervisors through the CMMS portal by census charges, and in the identification of house listing blocks through the HLBC portal.
Census 2027 will be conducted in two phases. The first phase (House Listing) will take place from May 1, 2026 to May 15, 2026 through self-enumeration by citizens, and from May 16, 2026 to June 14, 2026 by enumerators and supervisors. The second phase (Population Enumeration) will be held in February 2027.
In Udaipur district, the exercise will cover 1,882 villages across 17 tehsils and 190 wards under six urban local bodies, including one Municipal Corporation and five Municipal Councils. Census cells have already been constituted at district and charge levels. A total of 4,300 enumerator blocks (3,350 rural and 950 urban) and 716 supervisor circles (558 rural and 158 urban) are proposed in the district.
The training was attended by 17 regular assistants from rural charges, six from urban charges and four from the district level. Deputy District Census Officer and Joint Director, Economics and Statistics Department, Puneet Sharma was also present. The sessions were conducted by state-level trainers Mahendra Kumar Meena and Dvipendra Dhabhai from the Directorate of Census Operations, Rajasthan, Jaipur.
