Udaipur/Dehradun, July 26: Mewar’s Surendra Singh Devda has brought pride to Rajasthan by winning the individual gold medal in the 25m Sports Pistol (Deaf Category) at the Jaspal Rana India Open Shooting Championship, held at the Trishool Shooting Range of Maharana Pratap Sports College in Dehradun.
Competing in the event for the first time, Devda delivered an outstanding performance to claim the top honour, marking a significant milestone for Mewar on the national shooting stage.
Born with hearing and speech impairment, Devda has overcome numerous challenges through determination, discipline and consistent hard work. His achievement stands as an inspiring example that physical limitations need not stand in the way of excellence.
He currently trains at the Mewar Rifle Shooting Club, Nathdwara, under the guidance of international shooting coach Dr. Jitendra Singh Chundawat. The club credited his success to rigorous training, technical guidance and unwavering dedication.
Coming from a modest family, Devda’s father works as an electrician while his brother is an engineer. Despite limited resources, his family continuously encouraged him to pursue his passion for shooting.
Speaking on the achievement, Dr. Jitendra Singh Chundawat said that Surendra’s success proves that clear goals, sincere effort and proper guidance can overcome any obstacle. He expressed confidence that Devda has the potential to represent India and win medals at the international level in the future.
