New Delhi (Udaipur Kiran), July 27: Renault has announced an aggressive product strategy for the Indian market, with plans to introduce seven new models based on two new platforms supporting petrol, diesel, CNG, electric and hybrid powertrains.

As part of this strategy, the company is preparing to launch two hybrid SUVs. The first will be the Renault Duster Hybrid, while the second will be a seven-seater SUV based on the Duster platform.
Both upcoming SUVs are expected to feature a 1.8-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 109 bhp, paired with a 49 bhp electric motor, a 1.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, and a 20 bhp starter generator. The hybrid system is expected to deliver a combined output of 160 bhp and 172 Nm of torque, along with a clutchless multi-mode gearbox.
According to the company, the hybrid system allows the vehicle to start in electric mode and can operate in EV mode for up to 80% of city driving at speeds of 50-60 kmph. During hard acceleration, the petrol engine, electric motor and starter generator work together to deliver maximum performance, while the petrol engine handles most of the driving at higher highway speeds.
In terms of design, the Duster Hybrid is expected to closely resemble the standard petrol version, with the main exterior difference being ‘Hybrid’ badging. The cabin is expected to feature modern technology and premium features.
Following the Duster Hybrid, Renault plans to introduce a three-row SUV in 2027. The new model will be based on the Duster platform and is expected to offer a longer body and increased cabin space.
