About two weeks ago, Google announced four new Pixel 9 smartphones: Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The non-foldable Pixels can be charged wirelessly with the Pixel Stand 1 and Pixel Stand 2, but the Pixel 9 Pro Fold cannot.
According to Google, this is because “the position of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold’s charging coil is off-center compared to previous Pixel phones,” which “may make it difficult to charge your phone wirelessly.”

However, Google said that the Pixel 9 Pro Fold “supports many other wireless chargers” and that “if you use another wireless charger, adjust the position of the phone to charge.” The brand added: “Check your phone’s charging indicator.” to make sure it is positioned correctly.”
Google has shared a diagram of the Pixl 9 Pro Fold that shows the location of the charging coil (see below).
The original Pixel Stand enables wireless charging of Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro phones at up to 10W. However, with the Pixel Stand 2, the vanilla Pixel 9 can reach up to 15W of wireless power, while the Pro and Pro XL can reach up to 21W and 23W, respectively.
Without Pixel Stand 1 and Stand 2 support, the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold can charge up to 7.5W with other wireless chargers. The lack of Pixel Stand support is a shame, as the Google Pixel 9 Pro is the most expensive smartphone in the Fold lineup.
