Ajmer Discom Superintending Engineer Held Taking ₹50,000 Bribe

Jaipur, February 16, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran) – The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a Superintending Engineer of Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (AVVNL), Ajmer, while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹50,000.

According to the ACB headquarters, the action was carried out by the ACB Ajmer unit under official directions. The accused, Babulal, posted as Superintending Engineer in AVVNL Ajmer, had allegedly demanded ₹2,00,000 as bribe in connection with a previously issued work order to the complainant’s firm. On Sunday, he was caught red-handed while accepting ₹50,000 as part of the agreed bribe amount. The bribe money was recovered on the spot.

ACB Director General Govind Gupta said that a complaint was received alleging that the officer had demanded ₹2,10,000 in exchange for issuing the work order and was harassing the complainant. The demand was verified on February 11, 2026, during which it was settled at ₹2,00,000.

Following verification, a trap was laid under the supervision of Mahavir Singh Ranawat, Superintendent of Police, ACB Ajmer Range. The operation was led by Additional Superintendent of Police Vandana Bhati of ACB Ajmer, along with Inspector Meera Beniwal and her team, who apprehended the accused while taking the bribe amount.

Further interrogation and legal proceedings are being conducted under the supervision of ACB Additional Director General Smita Srivastava and Inspector General Rajesh Singh. A case has been registered against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further investigation is underway.
