Brazil Dominates India 4-0 in Historic Football Match

Kolkata, October 3 (Udaipur Kiran) : In a historic clash, Brazil, five-time World Cup champions, defeated India 4-0 at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on October 3, 2026. This match marked the first meeting between the senior men’s football teams of both nations.

India started the match on a promising note, managing to hold Brazil at bay initially. However, as the game progressed, Brazil began to assert their dominance, scoring two goals before halftime. Estavao opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a powerful shot that, despite a touch from Indian goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, found its way into the net.

Just three minutes before the halftime whistle, Brazil extended their lead to 2-0. Estavao played a crucial role again, assisting Pedro, who attempted a difficult shot from a tight angle. Although Gurpreet appeared to have a chance to save it, the ball slipped past him and crossed the goal line.

Brazilian head coach Carlo Ancelotti made five substitutions after halftime, bringing on Bruno Guimarães, Gabriel Magalhães, Vanderson, Samuel Lino, and Douglas Luiz. Despite the changes, Brazil maintained control of the match, scoring their third goal in the 58th minute.

India lost possession in a dangerous area, allowing Lino to capitalize on the opportunity. Receiving the ball inside the penalty area, he expertly placed it into the far corner, leaving Gurpreet with little chance to respond. Lino added a second goal during injury time, sealing Brazil’s emphatic victory at 4-0.

This match was particularly significant as it was Brazil’s first appearance in India. Ranked fifth in the FIFA men’s world rankings, Brazil became the highest-ranked team to face India since the ranking system was established, while India currently stands at 138th. Prior to this match, India had drawn 1-1 against Panama, a team ranked 44th in the world, marking their first positive result against a top-50 team.
