Rajasthan, October 4 (Udaipur Kiran) : Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav has lauded scientists for their emotional dedication during the release of Great Indian Bustards in Rajasthan’s Sam Desert National Park. In a heartfelt post on social media platform X, Yadav highlighted the moment when Dr. Sutirth Dutta, Dr. Tushna Karkaria, and Rishika Sharma were visibly moved as they witnessed the birds being set free.
Earlier today, Yadav released two male Great Indian Bustards in the park, marking a significant achievement attributed to nearly a decade of tireless efforts by researchers and ground staff. He expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Modi for his unwavering support and guidance, which has empowered the scientific community to work towards the conservation of this endangered species.
The Minister also visited a breeding center in Ramdevra on Saturday, commending the young researchers and scientists dedicated to protecting this unique species. According to a press release from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, the release of the bustards bred in captivity is a crucial step in the species’ conservation program. This initiative aims to improve protocols for reintroducing captive-bred birds into their natural habitat.
The program encompasses efforts in captive breeding and conservation, ultimately aiming to enhance the status of the Great Indian Bustard and facilitate the return of these birds to the wild.
