Global Confidence in Indias Economic Growth
Indias economy shows robust growth with over 7% growth rate, signaling strong domestic and international confidence, says the Secretary of the Ministry of Statistics.
New Delhi, October 4 (Udaipur Kiran) : India’s economy continues to garner positive signals both domestically and globally, according to Dr. Saurabh Garg, Secretary of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI). Speaking on October 4, he highlighted that the country has maintained an impressive growth rate of over 7% for the past three years.
In the first quarter of the current financial year, India recorded a growth rate of 7.8%. Various indicators related to the real economy also affirm this optimistic trend. Dr. Garg noted that several international organizations are revising their growth forecasts in light of India’s strong economic position, reflecting growing global confidence in the country’s economic policies and development potential.
Meanwhile, Mariatma Elka Pangestu, Indonesia’s Special Envoy for International Trade and Multilateral Cooperation, commented on the shifting landscape of global trade. She emphasized that while the United States may choose to use tariffs as an economic policy tool, other countries should refrain from adopting protectionist measures against each other.
Pangestu pointed out that the U.S. accounts for approximately 13% of global trade, while the remaining 87% occurs among other countries. She urged nations to focus on enhancing mutual investment and trade, whether through bilateral agreements or regional partnerships.
Discussing the economic ties between India and Indonesia, Pangestu expressed optimism about strengthening their relationship. She noted that there remains significant untapped potential for trade and investment, both bilaterally and under the ASEAN-India cooperation framework.
She highlighted opportunities for expansion in both goods and services, particularly in tourism, where increased travel and service sector collaboration could be beneficial. In the context of a fragmented global landscape, forging partnerships with countries that present opportunities for cooperation is becoming increasingly important.
On the topic of enhancing trade and investment opportunities, Pangestu identified manufacturing and semiconductors as key areas for potential collaboration between India and Indonesia. With the global demand for semiconductors on the rise, both nations stand to benefit from this growing market.
Additionally, she pointed to the automobile sector, especially the electric vehicle (EV) industry, as another significant area for cooperation. Indonesia possesses essential mineral resources required for battery production and is keen on developing its electric vehicle industry. Meanwhile, India’s large market and increasing manufacturing capacity could lay the groundwork for a mutually beneficial partnership.
