New Delhi, October 25 (Udaipur Kiran): In today’s fast-paced lifestyle, joint pain or arthritis has become increasingly common — not just among the elderly but also among young adults. Factors such as sedentary habits, poor diet, inflammation, and stress are contributing to the rising number of arthritis cases.

This condition often causes swelling, stiffness, and pain in the joints, making it difficult to move or perform daily tasks. Experts and the AYUSH Ministry suggest that while medications are important, integrating yoga into daily life can significantly help manage arthritis symptoms and improve overall well-being.
According to the AYUSH Ministry, yoga not only enhances body flexibility and blood circulation, but also strengthens muscles and helps keep the mind calm and balanced. When the body achieves physical and mental harmony, it naturally reduces pain and inflammation. Yoga, therefore, acts as a vital bridge between body and mind, helping restore inner energy and reducing discomfort associated with arthritis.
Effective Yoga Asanas for Arthritis Relief
1. Tadasana (Mountain Pose):
This posture helps improve body balance and posture. Standing straight with arms raised overhead and stretching the body enhances spinal alignment and strengthens the leg muscles. The gentle stretch increases energy flow and reduces stiffness in joints, making it especially beneficial for people who stand for long hours or suffer from knee pain.
2. Vrikshasana (Tree Pose):
This asana improves body stability and concentration. Balancing on one leg while placing the other foot on the thigh and joining the hands in a namaste posture helps strengthen hip and leg joints. For arthritis patients, it enhances stability and endurance. Beginners may use a wall for support while practicing this pose.
3. Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose):
Known for its benefits in relieving lower back and spinal pain, this asana involves lying on the stomach and gently lifting the chest upward. It improves spinal flexibility and strengthens the shoulders and upper back. Regular practice helps relieve stiffness and muscular pain often linked with arthritis.
Health experts emphasize that consistent yoga practice, when combined with medical treatment and a balanced diet, can greatly help in reducing inflammation, improving joint movement, and enhancing quality of life for arthritis patients.
