UDA Action at Hanuman Temple in Udaipur’s Jogi Talab Area Sparks Protest

Udaipur, October 3, 2026: A protest broke out in the Vaidehi Vihar area near Jogi Talab on Saturday morning after the Udaipur Development Authority (UDA) took action against the permanent construction of a Hanuman temple.

UDA Action at Hanuman Temple

The UDA team reached the area at around 6 am and used a JCB to remove the permanent structure and boundary wall of the temple. As news of the action spread, a large number of local residents gathered at the spot and raised slogans in protest against the UDA.

Residents Say Idol Was Installed About a Year Ago

According to local resident Mohan Dashora, residents had installed a Hanuman idol on reserved land around a year ago. He said the idol was installed for worship as there was no temple in the surrounding area.

A permanent structure and wall were subsequently constructed at the site, while the roof was yet to be built. Following the UDA’s action, residents said their religious sentiments had been hurt.

UDA Says Complaint Was Received Over Construction

UDA officials said some people from the surrounding area had submitted a written complaint regarding the construction of a permanent structure and temple on reserved land.

Officials said a notice had earlier been issued, asking those involved to remove the construction or shift it to another location. After following the prescribed procedure, the UDA removed the permanent structure from the government land.

MLA Meets Residents

Rural MLA Phoolsingh Meena also reached the spot after receiving information about the action. He spoke to the residents and heard their concerns.

The residents presented their objections and explained the sequence of events to the MLA. He assured them of all possible assistance.

The issue has now brought the residents’ religious sentiments and the UDA’s action against construction on government land into focus.
