New Delhi, December 31: Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has etched his name in cricketing history by becoming the third-highest run-scorer for India in a calendar year. He achieved this milestone on the fifth and final day of the fourth Test between India and Australia.

Jaiswal showcased his resilience during India’s chase of a daunting 340-run target, scoring 84 runs off 208 balls. His innings, which included eight boundaries, came at a strike rate of 40.38, bringing his calendar year tally to an impressive 1,478 runs.
An Elite List of Indian Run-Scorers
Jaiswal joins an elite list of Indian cricketers who have amassed significant runs in a calendar year:
- Sachin Tendulkar: 1,562 runs (2010)
- Sunil Gavaskar: 1,555 runs (1979)
- Virender Sehwag: 1,462 runs (2008) and 1,422 runs (2010)
Jaiswal’s remarkable feat cements his status as one of India’s brightest young talents.
A Marathon Effort in Vain
Despite Jaiswal’s determined innings, India fell short, with Australia clinching the match by 184 runs. The victory gave the hosts a 2-1 lead in the five-match Test series.
The final Test is set to commence on January 3 in Sydney, where India will look to level the series.
