WhatsApp recently expanded the rollout of its Meta AI chatbot to a few markets, including India and the US, and the instant messaging platform appears to have started working on new artificial intelligence (AI) features. Mehta’s messaging platform is reportedly developing a new “Imagine Me” feature that will allow users to create AI-generated photos of themselves. The update was discovered in the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android, available via the Google Play Beta app.
Feature tracker WABetaInfo has discovered that the company is developing an optional feature that will allow users to create their own images using artificial meta-intelligence. The messaging service may require users to upload some reference selfies when they first log in to the feature.
WABetaInfo says it has found evidence of an upcoming AI-powered “Imagine Me” feature in the latest WhatsApp Beta 2.24.14.13 update for Android, available via the Google Play Beta app. This feature is still under development and cannot be tested after installing the above beta version of WhatsApp on your Android smartphone.

This is how WhatsApp’s new artificial intelligence features work
The report includes screenshots that illustrate the new options and give users an idea of what the features will look like in live operation. When the user takes a series of photos, the Meta AI chatbot creates a new AI image.
Users can ask Meta AI to create an AI image for them by typing “Imagine me” in the Meta AI chat window. This feature can be accessed by typing “@Meta AIimagine me” in other chats.
According to a screenshot of the feature, users will be able to select new backgrounds and locations “from forests to outer space” to add to their photos. We hope it helps you create custom stickers. According to WABetaInfo, users may be able to delete uploaded Snaps at any time via Settings.
The new WhatsApp AI image generation option is said to be optional and users may need to manually enable it in their settings. According to the feature tracker, this could be available in a future update.
The company’s ChatGPT competitor Meta AI launched in India last month. In addition to WhatsApp, the chatbot developed by the in-house model Llama Three Large Language (LLM) is currently also available on Facebook, Instagram and Messenger.
