WhatsApp is unveiling a new in-app dialer feature for select beta users, aiming to enhance the calling experience in a future update. This innovation enables users to make direct calls to contacts without needing to save their numbers in the address book first.
Previously, the exact implementation details were ambiguous, but the latest insights from WABetaInfo indicate that the Meta-owned company will deploy a floating num-pad for placing calls.
This new in-app dialer is accessible to some beta testers who install the latest updates of WhatsApp beta for Android via the Google Play Store. The feature is being introduced with WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.13.17.

How It Benefits Users
The built-in WhatsApp dialer could revolutionize scenarios that require temporary calls. For instance, users can promptly reach out to colleagues or clients for brief interactions without saving their numbers. Additionally, it allows for one-off calls to customer service or businesses for inquiries without cluttering the contacts list.
“This feature allows users to make calls directly, without the need to add contacts to their address book or manually open a conversation. Additionally, after entering a phone number, users also have the option to quickly save it to the address book as a new contact or add it to an existing contact card,” the report stated.
Moreover, the dialer screen includes a messaging shortcut, enabling users to swiftly send a message to a phone number they initially intended to call but decided to text instead.
Overall, the in-app dialer enhances convenience, saving time and streamlining communication, especially for short-term and one-time interactions.
