Udaipur, February 14 (Udaipur Kiran) – Two Vande Bharat Express trains operating from Rajasthan have been suspended from February 14 and 15, 2026, due to low passenger load. The decision by North Western Railway will impact travellers commuting between Udaipur–Jaipur and Udaipur–Agra Cantt.

The semi high-speed Vande Bharat trains are known for their speed and modern amenities. However, continuous low occupancy on these routes prompted the Railways to discontinue their operation.
North Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Amit Sudarshan said Train No. 20981/82 Udaipur City–Agra Cantt–Udaipur City Vande Bharat Express will be discontinued from February 15, 2026. Similarly, Train No. 20979/80 Udaipur City–Jaipur–Udaipur City Vande Bharat Express will cease operations from February 14, 2026.
He stated that passenger numbers on these routes had remained low for a considerable period. While seats in the Vande Bharat trains were going vacant, other trains on similar routes were witnessing heavy crowding. Considering this situation, the Railways decided to suspend the services and shift the trains to routes with higher demand.
Meanwhile, keeping passenger convenience in mind, the Railway Board has approved a new Vande Bharat service between Udaipur City and Asarwa (Ahmedabad). The train will run six days a week, except Tuesday.
Train No. 26963 will depart from Udaipur City at 6:10 am and reach Asarwa at 10:25 am. On the return journey, Train No. 26964 will leave Asarwa at 5:45 pm and arrive at Udaipur City at 10:00 pm.
The train will halt at Javar, Dungarpur and Himmatnagar stations. Railway officials believe the new route has higher passenger demand and is expected to receive a better response.
