Udaipur : Ganesh Chaturthi is not merely a festival of worshipping Lord Ganesha but also an occasion that inspires people to overcome obstacles in life with patience, wisdom and faith. Lord Ganesha is remembered as Vighnaharta, Vighnaraj and Vighneshwar. The tradition of saying ‘Shri Ganeshaya Namah’ before beginning any auspicious work is also rooted in the belief that remembering Lord Ganesha removes obstacles from the path of the task.
During the ongoing ‘Apno Se Apni Baat’ discourse under the guidance of Narayan Seva Sansthan president Prashant Agrawal, he interacted with differently-abled people from across the country on Sunday, on the eve of Ganesh Chaturthi. He narrated a mythological story associated with Lord Ganesha’s form as Vighnaharta. He said success in life comes not merely from resources but from the right perspective, wisdom and a positive attitude.
Narrating the story, he said that in ancient times, King Abhinandan organised a grand yajna, which was attended by sages, saints and scholars from across the country. During the yajna, the king developed an ego and decided not to offer a share of the ritual to Lord Indra. Concerned over this, Indra sent Vighnasur to create obstacles in the yajna.
Vighnasur began creating repeated disruptions in the arrangements. Sometimes the yajna materials did not arrive on time, while at other times a new problem emerged during the rituals. Troubled by these obstacles, the sages and saints remembered Lord Ganesha. Ganesha confronted Vighnasur and eventually compelled him to seek refuge in him. Vighnasur apologised, after which Lord Ganesha brought him under control. This episode is believed to be associated with the glory of Lord Ganesha’s forms as Vighnaraj and Vighneshwar.
Prashant Agrawal said any new work should be started not with ego, anger or greed, but with humility, wisdom and positive thinking. He said obstacles are a part of life and one should face them with patience and faith instead of becoming fearful.
He said Lord Ganesha’s form teaches that a step taken with intelligence and discretion can make even the most difficult circumstances easier.
