Udaipur – Doctors at Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital, Umarda, recently performed successful cataract surgeries using the Topical Phaco technique, a modern approach for treating cataracts.

The surgery was part of a larger initiative following a free eye camp organized by PIMS Hospital in Sirohi, where many patients were diagnosed with cataracts. These patients were subsequently brought to the PIMS Hospital in Umarada for treatment. Under this initiative, the patients were provided with free cataract surgeries using the Topical Phaco method, which is known for being minimally invasive and having a faster recovery time.
According to Ashish Agarwal, Chairman of PIMS Hospital, this initiative reflects the hospital’s ongoing efforts to serve the community and improve eye health in the region. The cataract surgeries were performed under the supervision of Dr. Nitin Singh, Head of the Ophthalmology Department, along with Dr. Sandhya Nagda, and their dedicated team, including Dr. Pranshu Patel, Om Prakash, Nirmala, Shiv, and Anand.
The Topical Phacoemulsification (Phaco) technique allows the removal of the cataract without the need for an incision or stitches, significantly reducing the recovery time and enhancing patient comfort. This procedure, which uses a high-frequency ultrasound to break up the cataract, was successfully carried out on numerous patients, improving their vision and quality of life.
PIMS Hospital continues to make strides in providing advanced eye care and other medical services to the people of Udaipur and surrounding areas.
