Budgam, September 4 (Udaipur Kiran) : Security forces in Budgam, Jammu and Kashmir, killed a militant during an operation named ‘Ashdar’ on Friday. The operation, which began on Thursday evening, is part of a broader search effort in the Ashdar Gali area of central Kashmir.
According to the Indian Army, the operation resumed early on Friday morning after initial gunfire was reported during a cordon and search operation the previous evening. The Chinar Corps of the Indian Army, in a post on social media platform X, stated that the operation was launched based on specific intelligence, involving collaboration between the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the CRPF.
The forces encountered the militants, who opened fire, resulting in intense gunfire. During the exchange, one militant was killed, and an AK rifle along with other war-related materials was recovered from the scene.
This operation is reminiscent of a significant anti-terror operation conducted in Budgam in 1995, which involved a prolonged standoff with a Pakistani militant commander. The current operation underscores the ongoing efforts of security forces to combat militancy in the region.
